I am also delighted to announce that you will be able to see the entire collection of Ritual Burials and Extinct Icons at ONCA Gallery in Brighton from 22nd November to 3rd December in the largest exhibition of my work to date. The event runs as part of the annual Remembrance day for Lost Species programme and promises to be a really dynamic and exciting curation of my work. The private view will be on the evening of 23rd November and I would invite you all to come along, I’d love to meet you.

Beetle

As part of the programme of events for this exhibition and Lost Species Day I will also be running a Hand Embroidery and Embellishment Masterclass on Saturday 25th November at ONCA from 10am-4pm (times TBC). The theme of the workshop is Pollinators and I will be teaching techniques used to make one of 2 designs – a beetle (see above) or a moth/butterfly.

The day will be an exclusive chance to have a private tour of the exhibition with me, and a close look and explanation of the techniques used in my work on display. We will then get down to business customising and creating your chosen design, and will cover:

  • Felt padding
  • Applique
  • Embroidering over relief
  • French knots
  • Turkey Rug work
  • Surface embroidery techniques
  • Couching
  • Sequin techniques
  • Beading techniques
  • Wire wrapping
  • Plus lots of one-to-one coaching in applying your own creativity to textile design.

This will be a special day for textile art enthusiasts and due to the very limited nature of the places available, all abilities are welcome as I will be able to give lots of one-to-one attention. Places are £75 and will include fabric, hoop, instructions, needles and use of my entire embellishment cache. There will also be a special goodybag for each attendee!

Your Chance to Get NEW Mini Designs First!

astral

Here are the new 23mm set of 5 covered buttons, a set I call ‘Astral Bodies’ and each bears a cosmic symbol in rainbow couched variegated cotton.

Clockwise from top:

Ceres: The largest asteroid and the only dwarf ice-planet in the inner Solar System, orbitting between Mars and Jupiter. In ancient Roman religion, Ceres was a goddess of agriculture, grain crops, fertility and motherly relationships.

Pallas: The second asteroid to have been discovered (after Ceres), and one of the largest in the Solar System. In Greek mythology, Pallas was one of the Gigantesses born of the blood which spilled onto Gaia when Cronus castrated his father Uranus.

Juno: The third asteroid to be discovered and is one of the larger main-belt asteroids. In Roman mythology Juno is a daughter of Saturn and sister (but also the wife) of the chief god Jupiter and the mother of Mars and Vulcan. Juno is the Queen of the Gods.

Vesta:  The second-most-massive asteroid after the dwarf planet Ceres. Vesta is the virgin goddess of the hearth, home, and family in Roman religion. Vesta’s presence is symbolized by the sacred fire that burned at her hearth and temples.

Chiron: A ‘hidden Moon’ of Saturn. In Greek mythology, Chiron was held to be the superlative centaur among his brethren.

Now for the exciting bit: Head over to my Facebook page (and like it if you haven’t) where you will find details of how you can claim this set, or any of my other mini buttons for a special one-time-only price!

It’s also a significant date for me personally; it is the 1st anniversary of me quitting my full-time job and dedicating myself more to Mother Eagle. When I look back over the last 12 months it feels like so much longer, and I can hardly believe what I have accomplished. It’s a good feeling. I am 100% happier than I ever was before. The next 12 months will be full of new challenges and exciting beginnings, and I THANK YOU all so much for coming along with me thus far xx

NEW – The Midwinter Collection Launches November 5th

If you haven’t already heard on my Facebook page, I am launching a new collection on Monday 5th November (that’s this Monday!) of all NEW jewellery pieces.

There are some classic popular designs and some brand new ones too, but all have a new twist. All the embroidery work is (in my humble opinion) improved and refined, and all the materials are better quality.

Basically everything has been upgraded to ensure that when you buy embroidered miniature jewellery from me, it truly is a future heirloom. I have only made one of each piece ready to ship, after that I will make them to order.

Set your alarms for Monday friends!

Update…part 2

Welcome to the new look Mother Eagle! Ive been working really hard getting the beautiful new logo (why the change?) into all the different formats – Facebook, Twitter, Etsy etc. plus getting new business cards and marketing materials sorted…

And creating new packaging! Now as standard on all jewellery! Includes a recycled brown card box (stamped with the Mother Eagle insignia) with cotton batting, black recycled tissue paper sealing your jewellery with a Mother Eagle vinyl logo sticker, then wrapped with Mother Eagle paper and tied with black satin ribbon. All purchases still include the classic logo temporary tattoo!

With all these changes I took the time to review my shipping policy too. Now that the pieces are becoming more intricate and also because I’m now selling framed art, I can no longer be as generous with the free shipping. This is simply because the work I am selling is basically one of a kind. Yes I can always replicate a design, but the beauty of buying truly hand made art is it really is one of a kind. Also as my ‘samples’ sell out pieces are becoming purely Made-To-Order. For that reason I would be devastated if one of my pieces was to be lost in the post, and if it cost more than £46 then it’s not insured. So for that reason, from now on all items over £50 will be sent Special Delivery, for everyone’s peace of mind. I have been criticised in the past for shipping with a signature-required service, (“it’s a hassle having to be in/collect from Post Office”) but as one wise person told me recently, if they can’t be arsed to do that then they can’t really care that much about the jewellery they’re buying.

But items under £50 will still be free shipping!

I hope you like the new look.
